A group of women began to meet regularly with the help of the Childrens Society Community Project with the overall aim of improving the quality of life for women in the area.
1990
An opinion sampling was carried out to assess the need for a Womens Centre.
1991
The Wendy House was established on the Redcar Road East estate of South Bank
1997
Demand from women being so high, new premises were sought to expand the services. A major refurbishment took place to the then Activities Centre building and South Bank Womens Centre was born serving women throughout the Tees Valley.
1989
The Centre was visited by HRH The Princess of Wales
2008
The Centre underwent a name change to TEESVALLEY WOMENS CENTRE
2010/11
The Centre is also currently working on 2 projects in partnership with MOJ (helping women combat offending behaviour for a more rewarding lifestyle) & NACRO ("back to work" initiative helping & supporting vulnerable women in the community & home)
